May 1st to 31st is Save A Baby month which is the FSID’s annual awareness and fundraising campaign.
As well as funding research and distributing information to health care professionals along with the general public the FSID also support families who have tragically lost their babies to cot death and work to improve the investigations in to what has happened when a baby dies.
You can get involved by finding a Mile In Memory walk which has been organised in your local area to commemorate babies lost to cot death or in fact anyone you have loved and lost.
If you would like to take a look at the list of walks which have already been organised to take place on Saturday 17th of May click here to visit the FSID web site … keep an eye on the list as new listings are being added all the time.
If you find details of a walk you would like to join then contact the organiser of that particular walk directly by either phone or email (their name and contact details are included in the listing).
Having contacted the walk coordinator you will need a sponsor form which you can download from the top right hand column of this FSID page (click the words Sponsor form under the picture of the balloons) or you can telephone the FSID on 0207 222 8003 and they will happily post one out to you.
If you can’t find a walk in your area you can organise one yourself, contact the FSID on 0207 222 8003 and they will send you a Walk Coordinator’s Pack and list your walk on their web site which will hopefully attract extra walkers to your event … you’ll have to be quick though as the 17th is approaching fast.
If you can’t make it to a Mile In Memory walk or there isn’t one in your area then you can take part in a virtual walk by clicking here.
In order to participate in the virtual walk you will need to pay a minimum donation of £5 all of which goes directly to funding the essential work of the FSID.
Mothercare, Grobag® and MAM have donated shopping vouchers and there are two subscriptions for a year of either Mother And Baby magazine or Pregnancy And Birth magazine. As soon as you sign up to take part in the virtual walk you will be entered in to the prize draw. You can see a detailed break down of the prizes available and read the competition terms and conditions by clicking here.
The walk will test your knowledge of England, Wales and Northern Ireland and includes questions on history, geography and culture plus there is a question in each round to test your cot death awareness. You can choose from either beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and you will get points for every correct answer so why not make a team of friends, colleagues or family members and see who can get the highest score.

Please consider taking part in Save A Baby month with either a sponsored walk or a virtual walk.
