The Humphreys Corner nursery furniture range consists of the choice between a cot and a cot bed (which can be converted in to a junior bed once your little one has outgrown the cot sides) with a cot top changer.

There is a wardrobe, side unit and choice of a shelf with or peg rail. One unusual feature is the wooden height chart which adds extra interest to this attractive selection.

The Humphreys Corner furniture has been designed in conjunction with Sally Hunter and is inspired by her drawings. The line drawn images on each piece tell the story of Humphrey looking for his favourite toys.

In 2007 the FSID were part of the group of charities who smashed the world record, previously held in Singapore, for racing plastic ducks by sending 165,000 of the little fellas down the River Thames raising over £100,000 for 440 Uk charities.

This year, on 31st August at 12.30pm, the FSID and their fellow charities would like to break their own record and show the rest of the world that GB does it bigger and better. Their aim is to race a quarter of a million ducks down the 1 kilometre course which starts at Molesey Lock, near Hampton Court Palace.

How can you help?

Please adopt a duck. It costs £2 which includes a donation to the three lead charities (NSPCC, The Down’s Syndrome Association and Wateraid) however you can also include an additional donation specifically for your chosen charity.

There are 30 top prizes, the owner of the winning duck will receive the first przie of £10,000.

Keep babies who are less than six months old out of direct sunlight, especially around mid day.

Dress your baby in baggy but close weave cotton clothing and shade them either under a canopy, an umbrella, a tree or indoors. Remember that little shoulders and necks are very vulnerable especially if your child is wearing a strappy style top.

Today there is a wide variety of wrap around baby sun glasses available, you don’t have to buy an expensive branded pair but keep in mind that toy sun shades will not work.

Legionnaire style caps with protective flaps that cover the back of your baby’s head are ideal. Try to encourage your baby to wear a hat every time you go out in the sun, start at an early age before your baby is old enough to object so that they get used to wearing something on their head.

Check that any sun creams you buy are safe for a baby’s skin and make sure that it is factor 15 or above. Vulnerable places to pay particular attention to when applying the lotion are your baby’s ears, cheeks, nose and feet … and remember that sun screen washes off in the paddling pool.

The shadow rule is a great tip to remember … if your shadow is shorter than you are tall you can burn in the sun.
